Grading in Kinnegad
On Minday 6 February, Robert L'Estrange, Shauna Kavanagh and John Rogerson graded in Kinnegad dojo before Zanshin instructors Proinsias O Fearghail and Liam Darcy. They were tested in kihon, kata and kumite and did themselves proud! Well done, folks!

New shodans in Edenderry!
Zanshin Karate-Do Midlands would like to congratulate Adam Hanlon and Ben Carolan of Edenderry Shotokan Academy on passing their Shodan grading on Saturday. This is a big step in the life of any karareka. Adam and Ben have trained hard for this grade, in their own dojo and in Kinnegad. Congratulations to the lads, to Sensei Ger McCarthy, chief instructor in Edenderry and to senseis Sean Osborne and Marcus Flood for all their great work!

Kinnegad re-opening
Zanshin Karate Midlands Kinnegad will re-open on Monday 12th January. Classes are 7-8 pm for juniors,8-9.30 for seniors. Cost €5 children and teens, €7.50 adults. Classes held in Kinnegad GAA centre. Instructors: Sensei Liam Darcy, Sensei Proinsias O Fearghail

Dan grading with Shihan Colin Putt
On Saturday 13th December, Sensei Liam Gorman from the Irish Shotokan Academy organised a seminar and dan grading with Shihan Colin Putt, 7th dan shotokan. After an enjoyable and informative seminar, Zanshin instructors Paul Thackaberry, Keith Walsh and Proinsias O Fearghail graded to sandan, along with Sensei Gorman. Congratulations to Karolina and Kaspar Askuntowicz from the Portarlington dojo who graded to Shodan on the same day.

Zanshin Karate grading in Kinnegad
On Sunday, 30th November,30 students from Zanshin Karate Midlands graded in Kinnegad GAA centre, under a full Zanshin panel of Senseis Ger Walsh, Paul Thackaberry, Liam Darcy, Keith Walsh, Proinsias O Fearghail and Ollie Henchy. The panel was presided over by Sensei Gerard McCarthy, 4th dan, chief instructor of Renshukan Karate International (Southern Ireland). The students were throughly examined in Kihon, Kata and Kumite, and we were very happy with the standard displayed on the day. Tips were given at the end of the grading regarding further progress.
